About the PlayTrail

Push open the curvy ash wood gates and enter the  PlayTrail, a nature playground designed especially for young children.

Created in conjunction with the Dale Waller Early Childhood in Nature Program,* the PlayTrail also serves as a venue in which Boxerwood staff and local preschool educators can offer guided experiences for young children and their families that foster learning and discovery.

The PlayTrail winds through a wooded acre located near the parking lot for the convenience of families with very young children. The PlayTrail is a safe and rich environment for active, constructive and imaginative play.  This organic play space encompasses natural features of the tract along with whimsical enhancements.

*The mission of the Dale Waller Early Childhood in Nature Program is to ensure that  young children in our community regularly have the opportunity to experience the joy and wonder of being in nature, and to reap the benefits of outdoor play.

The PlayTrail opened Mothers' Day, 2007:  Garden Steward Karen Bailey and volunteer Ann Waller cut the vine on Boxerwood’s new Preschool PlayTrail and officially launched the Dale Waller Early Childhood in Nature Program. The opening ceremony included the naming of Dale’s Creek, dedicated to Dale Waller, the grandmother and educator in whose honor Ross and Ann Waller have established Boxerwood’s early childhood initiative.
