Group Visit Guidelines

General Guidelines
The PlayTrail is unsupervised.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or a designated caregiver who assumes full responsibility for their behavior and safety. Visitors who are playing in a way that is not safe or friendly may be asked to leave.  Scheduled preschool programs frequently take place on the PlayTrail. To avoid crowding, please arrange group visits in advance.

Families
Families are always welcome, without advance notice.

Preschool/Kindergarten Field Trips
Preschools, daycare centers and other organizations serving young children ages 3-5 are invited to schedule field trips to Boxerwood from March through mid-November.

Play Groups
Small groups of children and adults (10 or fewer) are welcome at any time without advance notice.  We request that larger groups phone at least one week in advance.

Other Groups
Scouts, home schoolers and other organized groups must arrange a group visit at least three weeks in advance.

Birthdays
We receive many requests from families with young children who want to celebrate their birthdays on the PlayTrail.  Small groups of children and adults (fewer than 10) are welcome without advance notice.  We request that larger groups (10 to 15) phone at least one week in advance.  We also request that cake and gift giving take place in the picnic area in front of the Visitors' Center.  The PlayTrail is open to other families with children who might feel left out.
