Session 2 Photos
This year’s theme was
Wild Friends. During our days together we explored the wonders all
around us. We also found out what these wild friends do for us, and what
we can do for them!
Sessions I and II both featured hands-on investigations and projects as
well as supervised free play and mid-afternoon snack. Children were
grouped in small multi-age clans, led by Boxerwood adult staff and trained
volunteers. Nature Detectives was directed by Elise
Sheffield, Education Steward, in coordination with Hannah Klein and Jess
Sullivan, BEA staff.
Session I:
K - grade 2 (June 2-6)
Monday-Friday, 1:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
During this session, we got to know our tiniest friends: the
critters that wiggle and hop and crawl and flutter and glide. We tracked
our friends with our magnifying glasses and celebrate their wonders with
arts and crafts and stories. How many adventures awaited us!
Session II
: grades 2 - 4 (June 9-13)
Monday-Friday, 1:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
During this session we got to know some of our biggest friends: the
marvelous trees of Boxerwood. We met some giants and discovered their
stories — even make some movies! We did some climbing, building,
measuring, digging, drawing, and treasure-hunting. Who knows how many
secrets the Great Oak might share?
